I had constant issues with the BBox connecting to my Airport Extreme Base Station with a " 's " in my Network Name. I renamed my Wireless Network minus any " 's " and my BBox has connected without a hitch to the network since.

Boxee Box has been worthless for the past week. Every single wireless device in the household can see and use the wireless network (Airport Extreme). The only device that can't? Boxee Box. It sits on my TV stand with it's orange logo mocking me for having continued faith in this device.

    So, I try again.

Airport Extreme. WPA2 Personal. 2.4 GHz frequency. No longer using auto network configuration on the Extreme - set to N. No funky characters in the password or SSID (dumbed down my network for this device). The Apple TV and Roku box sitting near the Boxee Box see the network and serve media as expected.

I tried reloading the latest firmware via USB. No luck.

Am I missing anything else worth trying?

I'm having the exact same issue as derekpunsalan above, i've tried all the exact same tips and tricks to persuade the boxee box to connect. The only difference is that i'm using an Apple Airport Express.

I'm starting to think the box is just defective, how do i contact boxee to enquire about getting my box exchanged? I tried sending a ticket but have yet to receive a reply.

Default Problems with my internet connection

Hi, i'm having issues connecting to internet with my Boxee, both ethernet and wireless.

I have just done a factory restore of the box and was getting ready to set it up. I have a cable connectting the router and boxee, but it says "An ethernet cord is plugged in, but configuration failed." When i try wireless i find my netowrk in the list, and type in my password but it the says "Wireless network was connected, but Boxee can't connect to the Internet".

My router is a Linksys E2000.

Anyone have any clue what i need to do?

i was having the exact same issue, i even sent a message to D-Link today to see if i can get my box replaced.

As a final last attempt to get it to see ethernet or wireless i took the box right to the router and connected it directly to it with a short ethernet cable.

Normal the Boxee Box is downstairs under the TV about 8 meters away from the router.

Surprisingly the box saw my ethernet connection and asked for my boxee ID.
I tried wireless connection and it connected instantly!

Does the boxee box have poor reception? ...but that wouldn't explain why it didn't see the ethernet connection downstairs. I've almost given up trying to logically work out why it can sometimes connect and other times refuse to connect with the exact same settings :S

I tried this now, i connected the Boxee directly to internet without useing the router, and that way i managed to get online with the boxee. But after updating the software etc. i tried again to connect through the router but it still didn't work. The router shouldn't be the problem here, as i have two other computers hooked up to it and they are working fine. So i have no idea what to do really, the boxee is sort of a waste of space without getting it hooked up to internet or at least my private network.

I hope my ordeal (and solution) is helpful to some.

I was having similar issues to those described here about 2 weeks ago. I tried every possibility to get a wireless connection and had concluded that the wireless on Boxee Box was just plain weak or wasn't going to work with my D-Link DIR-655. (I even went out and bought another one thinking the hardware was at fault.. with the same results)

I looked into setting up a wireless bridge connection using DD-WRT firmware (i.e. have 2 routers handle the wireless linkage and plug one of them into the Boxee via wired connection. This option might be viable for some (old Linksys routers are good for this). I also noticed my Hawking range extender (HWREN1) does this natively - no mods required (this is an undocumented feature). Anyway, in course of messing around and generally wasting my time I tried out another router (Dlink DIR-601) and was surprised to find it worked fine with the Boxee.

This put me on the trail of suspecting my DIR-655 was the problem (even though all my other wireless devices were working fine). Routers these days seem to need a hard reset every once in a while so I backed up the settings, did a 30-30-30 reset on the router, and re-flashed the firmware... and now everything works fine - 2 weeks without issue. It's actually surprising how good the boxee actually is over wireless - from basement to second floor.

    Hope this helps someone.
