Any recommended settings for a Airport Extreme Base Station?
I have no idea what is wrong with my BB. I live in a loft -- no walls between the base station and the Boxee + TV. Yet, BB has problems with a) seeing the SSID or b) holding a connection.
I remembered special characters in the SSID / password were an issue so I went and changed my SSID to be plain as could be, and stripped out and special characters from the password (lowercase letters and numbers only WPA2 Personal).
This wireless thing is frustrating beyond belief. The first time it happened I relocated my base station to be next to the TV so that I could hard wire BB. After the software update, wireless seemed to be working again so I unplugged the router and relocated it back over to the other side of the loft.
Wireless has been working flawlessly for over a week. No wireless network changes have been made. Now BB either see's wireless and can't connect, or connects and can't access the internet. It's a huge pain because the TV and wires are all hidden behind the wall.
I'm torn because it's a real pain to have to re-run all the wires. Distance between the BB and Airport is literally 25 ft. No obstructions.
Hi guys,
had the same problems as others - BB won't connect to my wlan router after performing the update - would reject the password (so it said).
I went through the thread and tried the hint to set the router security to wpa2 only (was set to wpa1+wpa2 before) and BB connects flawlessly again - all settings remained the same - password, IPs etc.
Just thought to let you guys know - another one where the "wpa2 only" did the trick.
Happy new year everyone.
Cheers
Hi,
If you do connect Boxee to an Ethernet cable, does it successfully connect to the Internet?
If it does, it would be great to get the logs. To get the logs, do steps 1 and 4 detailed here
Instead of 'Send to Boxee' click on the latest log file *(named something like boxee.1290854877.1862.tar.bz2), the file will be downloaded to your PC. Please Send this file to me -

Does anyone know if the BB will switch between bands if the 5GHz one is detected? I've had numerous issues with the BB + Wireless and am using a bridge for now.
Hi,
BB uses only the 2.4GHz band.
