Scanning Takes Forever

Is anyone else seeing this issue? I have a decent amount of videos (~3Tb), but the Box is taking like 12 hours to rescan lately.

Hey Vito,

I have about 1.75 TB of files as well, but haven't had a problem. Previous to teh update, if it wasn't scanning, I went into setup and files to make sure it was even scanning, if not, I would do a power cycle (turn off unplug power for like 10 seconds and replug and turn back on) and than it would be fine... Before the new firmware update I was doing a lot of power cycling...

Another thing, are you running two USB external harddrives or running over network? I heard Boxee Box will not read 2 USB external hard drives, only one... Just a thought.

Thanks for the info. I'm pulling everything off my fileserver, which houses a 5TB RAID.

I'll have to try rebooting it more, I guess.

it's funny how XBMC scanning takes 2-3 minutes for EVERYTHING and in boxee I have 4 shares and it takes 4-5 minutes each

It can take depending on the amount of content also please note that scanning will stop if you are playing any content and will only resume when the content has finished.

OK I understand but even if there's only 1 new file it'll take forever. xbmc does one file really fast... maybe it's the scraping that is done better in xbmc...

Initial scan of my 300+ movies took 3-5 minutes total.

I can add a file, click rescan source, and in 2-3 minutes it's rescanning my 300+ moives. It finds the new file...done.

Pulling all data from my WHS.

It gets really frustrating reading your posts judge. 99% of users have a problem and you chime in that since you are in the 1%, your box works perfectly.

If I rescan after adding one movie, it takes several hours to just fine one movie.

Sorry, You guys chime in saying it does not work for one reason or another, so I comment on my experience. Not trying to gibb anyone, just giving my side and confirm that, "hey, it does work. Wonder why then yours is not? " It working is just as important to the mods, devs and other users alike. And I beg to differ on the 99% having issues. Forums like this typically get posts by users with issues. We rarely see posts by those without. Think about it, if you got no troubles...do you post the contrary on every trouble thread?

I just did a factory restore and installed the latest upgrade from scratch to see if I get any of the results you guys are getting. Not only do I test you guy's issues, but my own too AND reporting to devs.

I'm way too busy testing this box....
