    Question Router

Can the Boxee Box view and read files locally on the WD My Book for Mac 2TB which is plugged into the Apple Airport Extreme?

As long as it is shared and you add the shared drive to the Boxee files then yes it should be able to see the files.

No problem I should also add that just check with the supported file systems and make sure your HD is formatted to one of those. I was assuming this, but should have stated this in my original post.

How is the speed on this setup, are you able stream all your content (1080p included) with no issues? I'm debating this or hooking up a WD My Book Live instead.

Can you tell me how to add a shared drive connected to the Airport Extreme? I have one and I can't add them to the Boxee Box.

    Default Shared disk

I can only see my Airport Extreme shared drive by adding the source manually. Since it's added manually it wont index my media.

BB also has a hard time playing large media files from my manually added source. 1080P mkv files pause every few seconds.

Getting really frustrated with this thing.

How did you add it manually? Did you use the command "SMB://Routerip"? The problem i am having is if i turn GUEST ACCESS on in Airport utility, that is when i can see my external drive which is connected to the Airport. If i turn of GUEST ACCESS, i cannot see it. I dont want to use guest access as i want the drive to be password protected.

    Default sources

I got Boxee hooked up to my network by following - http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=21785

After following the above BB sees my drive as a source and indexes my content. I haven't played with any of the settings since.

From what I understand you're enabling guest access to devices on your network. It's still password protected with your router password. It isn't available outside of your network.

    BB still won't play a 8GB 1080p/DTS mkv smoothly.
