    Default tools to auto-repack MKV

I've got a ton of MKV files that boxee plays just fine... but I'd love to be able to stream them to my iOS devices without transcoding (transcoding and streaming even 720p h.264 is pretty heavy work for my Z-BOX).

I'm playing with HDConvertToX and it looks promising (awaiting test output now), but I'm really after something that I can just feed all my MKVs to and have it crunch them into MP4 containers.

And by crunch them, ideally we're talking about transcoding the audio to AAC but leaving the original audio there as a secondary track, handbrake-style (since boxee will happily play anything).

Anything that can shuffle soft-subs over unmolested is a mega-plus, but I've not got so much subbed content that I'm beyond doing that manually.

There's really no simple answer for this because of your needs with subs and second audio tracks. I think you'll have much better luck getting a good answer to this question if you post over at one or more of these sites (if you haven't already):

Is this still necessary to do? Does boxee still not use the GPU in windows to handle 1080P MKV's?

I can play high bit-rate MKV's in Windows Media Player all day long - but in boxee - pixelation like CRAZY.

The OP is talking about removing the need to transcode for streaming to iOS devices:
but I'd love to be able to stream them to my iOS devices without transcoding (transcoding and streaming even 720p h.264 is pretty heavy work for my Z-BOX).
If you're having playback issues in Boxee software, it's probably better to start a new thread describing your system specs and more information about you video files.
