    I am having resets too.

It always happens when I am scrolling through content menus or settings menus, but rarely during playback of content.

It happens about every 60-120 seconds (no joke) when scrolling though menus and lists.

It happens when browsing local content from my WHS.

It happens when browsing network content, apps, movies, etc. Pretty much everything.

Screen goes to a boxee logo, then says "connecting" then back to the main menu.

I originally thought it just happened on a "click" of the remote, but it happens when I am not scrolling too.

I was able to watch a 42 minute tv show with no problem though.

I am on a wired network, gigabit.

    Cool

Having the exact issue as n3rdalert has posted….

I have tried my network hook up on both Wi-Fi and Hard Wired Ethernet…so I am ruling these issues on my internet access out of the equation.

When actually playing internet content media its runs okay…sometimes it’s a buffering or bottle neck issue which happens occasionally.

Taking all network and USB hard drive media access out, it still resets as it is explained in the above quote by n3rdalert, so this issue isn’t just me it surely seems. CODECS – CODECS or possibly bugs in this software revision…
    Time will tell……

    dconti,

I tried (again) restoring from factory, then upgrade firmware, and running it a bit with no content. I have not been able to crash it yet. Now I did leave it online so it still saw my networked files if I drilled down to them, but not added in the sources menu.

I was seeing it exactly as n3rdalert described it before.

Now I have started to add in my folders (TV, Kids Shows, Movies, etc...) as sources and *so far* it is still all good. It seems to be scraping **WAY** faster now (what took 48 hours previously now took 1). And as well, I am now seeing (or noticing) the star in the top right of the screen that says 'Boxee will scan <folder name> ' and then notify how many files etc. I never saw that before this time...?!?

The only thing I have done differently (other than trying to crash it with no local content added) is to add my movies folder last (it is scanning it now). Usually it was the first to get added. I will keep an eye on it.

    Thanks for the help!

This is becoming very annoying - multiple times when demoing the Boxee to friends, it happens more often as I become friendlier with the remote, trying to slow my remote “Clicks”. However still an issue IMO.
Sure they all want one, however I don’t like what the unit is doing. I have tried Ethernet and Wi-Fi – it happens on both. I would call it a system crash or a reset issue that a software upgrade will hopefully solve.
I am having the same issue.

After a few calls to Boxee (or their customer service reps- which by the way-needs to get better), we concluded that i should just exchange the box.

Hopefully i wont have any issues with the new one.

    yes.

If i dont use the NAS files, and try to use the boxee apps, i am still having the reset issue.

I just posted a ticket on their issue tracker site if anyone wants to add their log files to help fix it.

    http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-7030

you can get the log files from http://boxee-ipaddress/8080 after you put the box into debug mode in the settings/system/advanced menu

Once in debug mode, it will generate a report that you can upload after a crash.

    Thanks n3rdalert.

I have added my movie share as previously posted and it has begun crashing again. It would appear that I have a file crashing it just as the bug report from n3rdalert indicates for him. I seem to be stuck with 14 files left but I do not know which it stopped on...

I guess I need to open a ticket as well?

You could just add your log file to the open ticket.

I removed my music share and it hasn't crashed yet!

I looked into my error report as well and managed to remove one movie that jump started the scanning process again and I think has stopped the crashing too!

Hank, can you tell us which part of the log file you found the error in and what the error looks like so we can all test?

    Glad it is working!
