I find after I power off my BB and power it back on often I get *no* video.

I can not simply 'click' to power off. I have to hold the power button off to power the BB.

The TV is a 42" Philips LCD connected via HDMI.

I power cycle both things repeatedly different ways powering and unplugging for short times trying different combinations with no luck..

I can unplug everything and move the connection to my OLDER LCD projector .. Panasonic.. reboot it a few times and it comes up! .. no idea why.

I can then unplug everything bring it over to the Philips 42" and things *DO* work again..

I have been leaving it powered on connected to the Philips..

I'm running the latest code.. it had done this with previous code and new code all the same.

Anyone else try this / have this experience?
I'm really not sure what I would do if I didnt have another HDMI appliance to test with.

The problem is happening because the box doesn't like the EDID of your TV. I confirmed it by sniffing the HDMI transmission and running some tests through a quantumdata and a HT-180 handshake tester. No video manufacturer should be without one of these which are standard equipment, and this problem would have been avoided by testing what would happen with TVs with bad EDID. not boxees total fault the EDID in my TV is wrong, and I assuming is wrong in you guys tv too, but the boxeebox just makes things worst.

At boot up the box outputs standard 480p and I can see the video onscreen, but after that the box tries to autodetect the resolution to play the boxee intro video which I find annoying after watching the boot up screen for a while, and that is where it gets stuck. I can connect the box to another TV then change the resolution to 720p and while the box is on hotswap the HDMI cable to the TV I actually want to use and I get video, but if I turn the box off then is back to square 0.

I hope this is not harcoded in hardware Read only or they will not be able to fix it via software. Unfortunately this thing already pissed me off by making me loose 2 hours of my life and is soon is gonna be 3 because I"m returning it to the store.
Well, all this makes sense. I got my boxee today and got this problem too.
According to this issue it is scheduled to be fixed in SP5, when is that going to be released?

Yeah I got this now as well. I get the grey "Loading" screen, then just black... I have had this Boxee for 2 months now and had no problems prior to 1.03...

    Well, this sucks.

It does appear to be some sort of HDMI handshaking issue. I have tried both inputs on my TV and two separate cables (both of which work fine on the PS3).

I managed to get to the recovery mode screen but that was flashing black every second. Still, I managed to get it to do a factory reset. However now it's booting back to a black screen, even though it's now at 0.92

For the last 2 months I've had no problems at all, until 1.03 and its audio dropouts and now this. I have been running 1.01, 1.02 and 0.92 with no issues.

FWIW my TV is a 42" 1080p unit (LG 42LG50FD).

I wonder if 1.03 update flashed some sort of dodgy HDMI driver code that is now stuck in the Boxee box? (although I would have assumed a factory reset would clear everything out)

Try to connect boxee to hdmi2 or another tv... if u get picture switch to 720 and connect it back to your tv. That usally solves my problem. (just in case switch off/on your tv /do not use remote/ before reconnecting it back) .
    Btw if u really need 1080 , use 1080p and not 1080p/XXhz

I will try that tonight. I wonder if it is the fact that I selected 1080p in the menus? Maybe I should have left it at 720p *vomit*

    Default Black Screen

I've got the black screen issue as well no matter what I do! Anyone have a solution? Tried factory resets to no avail.
