Just curious: Are there other remotes that work with the Box that have light up keyboards and whatnots? Any links?

Any pictures of the usb rf dongle?
I'd buy this to replace my lenovo remote because that optical ball is kinda a pain for navigation. But the boxee dpad doesn't seem like it'd be much better.
V2 should have glow in the dark keys (or backlit ones- but that would drain the battery). Same 2 face design but with either a synaptics pad or gyro air mouse.
Boxee Wishlist:
- cbr/cbz support, better picture handling
- Custom thumbnails/name titles, group organization for RSS feed app
- Proper Anime Scraper
- SSA/ASS subtitle support- most common subtitle used in fansubs
- Theme pack gallery/forum, GUI for color channel mixer, custom menu sounds
- User Agent GUI for Hulu
- Sadly, Hulu doesn't want to be your friend Boxee Box
- Anything else I forgot
The wii-mote is analogous to a mouse, while the boxee remote is closer to your keyboard's arrow keys.

I wish I could also buy this in europe =/
It was a massive oversight not producing those with back lighting. The remote is difficult enough to read in normal ambient lighting, as soon as you turn a light off its completely useless. I have found myself using the Iphone app nearly exclusively these days.
Any word on when the boxee remote will be available on its own, in Australia?
I completely agree. The color they used for normal letter prints on each key is BAD. It's hard to see even WITH lighting. They should have used the WHITE for the normal keys and then the off shade for the ALT keys instead of the other way around.
I just don't get it. They make a great product and then drop the ball on the remote. They need a backlit remote(at least thekeyboard should be backlit at the very least) that has more buttons on the front too, buttons like Home, Back and so on(the Iomega remote looks to be headed in the right direction on this).
Why would anyone buy one of these remotes considering how unusable they are? Well I guess since the Boxee doesn't even support IR remotes there's no choice. But I sure wish if they were going to try to sucker people into buying additional remotes that they'd at least have the smarts to fix the readability problem with the remotes keyboard.
I'm not where you're getting that you can't use an IR remote. Is that on the boxee box then? I made an IR receiver and used it on my machine after installing lirc and setting the key assignments. Also, this isn't an IR remote, it's RF.
I've also never ran into an issue where I felt it HAD to be backlit. To me that would be super annoying providing unnecessary lumens to the environment as well as added battery draw. Then again, I've never gotten confused about the orientation of the remote as others have speculated / stated.
