Question Netflix via Boxee Box Browser

I am still waiting for my Boxee Box to arrive, but am wondering whether or not Netflix can stream through BB's web browser... Since I live in Canada, and apparently the Netflix app on Boxee doesn't work with Netflix.ca, this may be my only option to stream Netflix via Boxee... Can someone test this for me and see if it works! Thanks!

I have not tried, but I have tried on other devices that can access wepages and it will not work. The idea here is that you need microsoft silverlight. It will give you a message that says your operating system is not supported. That is why most of these types of machines use stand alone applications to access netflix.

the boxeebox uses a stripped down linux.. so there is no silverlight plugin.

Netflix has a proprietary version of their player that does not require silverlight...only hardware suppliers get access to it once entered into a business agreement. (BBOX, roku, etc).

Yeah, something very interesting about that: the app I wrote "The Guild" currently just uses the streams from MSN which requires silverlight. That app still works on the BBox...

It works with the Boxee browser, I tested a video the other day from CTV. You have to drag the mouse and expand it to full screen.

PlayOn works good in Boxee for people looking for a way to view Netflix via Boxee. The folder view sucks, but at least it's something.
