    Question

With the added SD Card slot on the side, wouldn't it be an easy option for Boxee to add a system setting option to allow expanded cache to be stored on an external source?

Definitely an issue - I would love to be able to put an SD card or as someone else mentioned a thumb drive in the box, and have it used to cache the cover art and scrape information.

Add me to this list. If it's really loading all of these images over the internet instead of storing them locally...wow. That'd be an amazingly shortsighted design choice.

Agreed. Movies covers take forever (if they come at all)... better to have nothing than the stupid circles getting your hopes up that it might actually show in the next few seconds.

I have the same problem. Based on system settings, I thought they'd be cached locally.

Same issue here. However, some of us have networks so they need to cache the thumbnails locally via an option to include: USB, SD Card, Network, etc. If you have two Boxee Boxes, you don't want to keep multiple local copies of your artwork so a menu of choices would work best.

I noticed that if I power down the box, it will take a long time for the cover art to come back. If I just put it in sleep mode, the cover art will still load quickly.

Is this the issue many are having? Or does this just happen all the time?

My cover art loads very quickly expect after I have powered it down.

Sleep only switches off video I believe, when you power down and then switch on again the cover art has to be downloaded again as it's not cached from my understanding.

edit: maybe this is being looked at? From Twitter:

mmatuzak: The @boxee box needs to cache show images, add netflix/hulu, and allow music playlists.
boxee: @mmatuzak true on all fronts.

anyone from boxee wan to chime in on this? the fact that is has to pull the cover art every time, after you power down is ridiculous. needs a cache or some kind of solution to this!

Did you see the post above yours? There was an exerpt from Avner's Twitter. Theya re aware of the slow loading cover art and are also aware that people would like the option to both store images locally (like on an SD card) or have Boxee use thier own personal cover art that they have.
