Exclamation Hulu Removed from boxee so they can offer Hulu Plus

I know hulu plus was talked about at the event last night.
But hulu "normal" has been removed from all boxee versions because of it.

No sure how I feel about loss of "FREE" content (you do have to watch ads, so its not free) and Paying for less content (hulu plus does not have all the hulu normal content) and still having to watch ads.

Yes, it's either that or Hulu keeps blocking boxee.

Fancast will partially fill the void for now.

To be fair... You pay for Cable/Satellite and you still have to watch ads...

But I get what you mean... Just look at Netflix.

Any idea why Fancast isn't full screen? Any workarounds?

All Internet TV is not full screen. You must plug a mouse into Boxee and use it to toggle the full screen icon and it will go.

This is how it is at the moment for all network TV shows.

huh? This has never been true for me and isn't now. Just started Colbert Nation, its full screen, works just fine. Hulu and others asked me to "hit enter" which I did using WMC remote. Now fancast has no option, just a tiny little window. I'll try poking around to see what I find with a mouse.

I had to register just to say that frankly, this has killed all my enthusiasm for the boxee box (which I was looking forward to to save me the trouble of a full media PC) and I probably won't be purchasing or recommending the boxee box any time soon.

While I understand the ridiculousness of the situation that boxee has been put in by Hulu, I just don't see any point in buying something that is remarkably worse at delivering media than my laptop with video-out cable.

Hopefully those in charge at Hulu will someday come to there senses. Since they insist on making my viewing experience inconvenient, I'll stick with stealing their content, commercial free.

Sorry to hear you are personally banishing yourself from Boxee just because it doesn't support Hulu "at this moment" - it was announced that Boxee will support Hulu in the future and given the fact that most of Hulu's content can be found on Fancast - plus the 'Vast' amount of other content on Boxee, I think you should give Boxee another chance

When it eventually gets Hulu Plus, Netflix, and the other such things... well, I still won't see the point honestly. I can get those things from much cheaper boxes, including getting Netflix on the Wii I already own. Boxee does have a lot of good apps indexing free content, and if after a while the box comes down in price I might decide it's worth it. But for now, today, I don't see the point.

But this is less about Boxee, which was forced into this silliness, and more about the content providers. I was willing to watch their ads in exchange for the on-demand streaming and not dealing with torrents. Its a fair compromise that works for them on the PC. But they are unwilling to let me watch the same content and commercials from the comfort of my couch. They show remarkable contempt for me and so I will continue to access their content in the most convenient way available: commercial free, price free, and viewable from the couch.

Not liking this one bit honestly. I was all ready to get my parents signed up with Boxee but this is a big blow to that. Shocked that this came pretty much out of no where right before they launch the Box. Very disappointed.
