Default Not a Request, but an idea for request...

Ok, so I have this kind of feeling iTunes DRMed content would be kind of cool on Boxee. Well I've been doing some research, and there was a project (www.el-tunes.com) that successfully did this, using the gstreamer framework, and my guess being the Requiem Project (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FairPlay#Requiem).. What if we somehow got this infrastructure working in Boxee?

From the wikipedia page for Apple's FairPlay DRM:

Apple has taken steps to remove references of Requiem from the JHymn forums. A post on the JHymn forums explains Apple's cease and desist order against the forum regarding posting information on circumvention technologies like Requiem. Since the C&D order, the author of Requiem has made it available with source code on the anonymous Freenet network, from which it's been copied onto popular BitTorrent public trackers, such as The Pirate Bay.
Not to even mention that this is a wasteful cat and mouse game, Boxee is a small and honest startup. Attempting to use Requiem code to crack DRMd content would put them in quagmire of hurt and financial ruin.

I think Boxee could put their limited resources to better use. Trying to partner with Apple would be a better option. In the meantime, I just exit Boxee and play my DRMd content as I always do.

Better yet... refuse to buy DRMd content and avoid being locked into a specific technology (this is more of the spirit behind Boxee by supporting so many non-DRMd formats).
