    Default RSS downloading

I am not having any luck figuring out how the downloads work for bit torrent. I am using OSX 10.53. What I am currently doing for my video downloads is I use the RSS plugin for azureus torrent client to download all my shows from one custom rss feed i have setup. Then I watch them in Divx player or VLC etc. My ultimate solution would be to do this all in boxee. Is this at all possible? If I have to edit any config files or anything like that I am fine with that, but I would love in an ideal world to keep boxee running in the background like a tivo and whenever a .torrent is added to my rss feed have it automatically start downloading it then I can just sort by date and see what I have thats new in my list when I sit down.

this thread (which you already found ) explains it:
    http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=214

you can twick boxee and add rss feeds to your sources.xml (~/Library/Application Support/BOXEE/UserData/profiles/[your user]/sources.xml).

however it will not "just start" downloading the torrents there - you have to do that manually.

not all rss feeds will work. however, we are constantly improving the downloads system.

How do you go about doing this in Ubuntu? I added the code, but nothing comes up. Heck even if I change the cnn one to the one I want, it still scrapes cnn.

Also, does boxee support filters? For example

"In order to restrict torrent downloading to certain categories, just add the relevant keyword to your rss client filters"

I am trying to set up an rss feed to a private torrent site, pretty general torrent site with apps/games/movies and whatnot. The site provides an rss feed with a key like this

    http://rss.somesite.com/rss.php?pass...59a508cd9acfbe

I tried creating a new entry in sources.xml I just copied the youtube one, and changed the link and name. But it wouldn't show up in boxee. At this point I deleted the rss feed for cnet and pasted that in its place, but it still would just scrape cnet, though the link isn't even in the sources.xml file anymore.

i'm not using os-x so i'm not sure how it works on there, but basically i'd suggest searching your boxee app-data folder for sources.xml , and there's probably multiple files by that name. on linux I have multiple userdata folders (userdata and UserData), so perhaps your issue is due to similar circumstances.

also, you may have read this already, but be sure to follow tsella's instructions here: http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=52

I am on ubuntu aswell. If I update the file in say userdata, it auto updates UserData.

make sure you are updating the correct sources.xml. you need to change the one under ~/.boxee/profiles/username/

also, torrent rss may or may not be properly handled. PM me with a sample.

The example would be kind of useless since it is a private site, so it wouldn't do you much good.

With that said, I though the downloads section of boxee (rtorrent) was fed by the feeds? Or did I look at this wrong.

Also, I don't have a directory structure like that (ubuntu machine). And sources.xml.in.linux is actually the only xml file that comes up when I search for a file named sources on my entire pc.
