    Default CPU usage when idle

I always experience what I think is high cpu usage when boxee is idle. For example, when on the home screen task manager shows boxee is using 35%+ cpu.

    PIV 3ghz
    3GB RAM
    Windows 7
Nvidia 8400gs 512MB (current drivers as of today from Nvidia)
Boxee current version downloaded & installed today

Is this what others experience or do I have a problem?

    Thanks,
    Eric

BTW, similar usage on my MacBook Pro. CPU usage on boxee homescreen hovers around 30%.

What else is weird is that navigating to almost any other screen in boxee OTHER than the homescreen cuases cpu usage to decline.

I don't have details and the information to speak coherently (in general ) but that's common. For this reason, there are times when playback of certain files can be better outside Boxee than in it, for some users (like this guy, especially with flash).

Watch when you minimize it to the taskbar. CPU goes to nearly Zero.

    That's what it does....no harm.

I've heard that the UI refresh is the problem. Same problem in XBMC.

For me it's a blocker for using it on a 24/7 always on HTPC nettop , it should consume less than 2% when idle...

No problem, unless I want to keep it running in the background while another application is running.

I'll have to see if I can somehow automate minimizing Boxee when in the BG...

    Lightbulb Lighten Windows 7...

Make sure your Windows 7 machine is running lean and light. You can go to the Judge signature and follow his tips for the Acer Revo.
    Good luck!
