    Default Boxee box Filesystem question

I have pre-ordered a boxee box from Amazon. I have one question regarding filesystem supported by boxee. I am primarily a Mac user and most of the time my external hard drives are formatted in HFS+. Fat32 is probably not a good option for streaming HD movies from USB drive so just wanted to check if the boxee box will support HFS+ file system in USB drive (read/write)

    thanks.

Hi, my understand is that this is a linux system, and won't be supporting HFS+
(I'm also a mac user so would be interested in this)

Just curious though, why would FAT32 be a bad thing? Other than the 4GB individual file size limit.. are your movie files really over 4GB each?

According to Anandtech, it looks as though it may...

"Only SMB and AFS (HFS+) supported for network storage as of now (No NFS / FTP etc.)"

One potential issue with that Anandtech article..

They're talking about network storage, which means they probably meant SMB and AFP, not "AFS"...

I have a 2x2TB external RAID1 that is HFS+ (and there are several files over 4GB) that I'll need to reformat tomorrow, which means I have to make space on another 2TB drive. Sucks but at least I'll only have to do it once. I just hope that being a Linux-based device, it supports btrfs or at least some filesystem that isn't FAT32.

Avner Ronen said in the live release that it supports HFS+. So rest assured, it does support it!

Hopefully not just read support, which is all even recent Linux distros such as Fedora 14 build in (just tested).

Luckily I also have a couple more 2TB disks coming from Amazon today, so I better start the backup process in case I need to reformat.

I'm hoping for Linux filesystem support, I don't want to be stuck with the 4GB limit.

The same day courier is "out for delivery" now, so hopefully I'll find out soon.
