Yes, there used to be a global setting for this but it was, er, misplaced in the last release

Had the same issue when I switched to Boxee. Apparently the GUI was changed and somehow the option was removed. It has to be disabled manually by editing that xml file w/ notepad.
There's a few threads about this if you search the forums.
