Thread: boxee is pulling files i deleted

Default boxee is pulling files i deleted

i had all my dvds ripped to video ts, that was a mess getting boxee to play them all correct, so i converted them all to mkv and deleted all the video ts files from my hard drive. i removed the movies source and re-added it.

for some reason, boxee keeps showing some video ts files, even though none exists in the source i added. any help?

i just uninstalled boxee and will re-install to see if that fixes it.

deleting boxee and redownloading and installing didnt do it. boxee still shows zombieland video ts files in the movies section, that file is not in any folder on my hard drive. so annoying.

Have you told Boxee to rescan the share they're located in? Boxee should eventually rescan the share automatically, but how long that takes depends on the settings you use for the individual share and other factors you may have less control over.

You can tell Boxee to rescan a share by going into the settings, clicking on "Local Sources", choosing the folder you want, and clicking on the "scan source" button located on the right-hand side. Then wait a few minutes and this SHOULD resolve your problem.

Default what more can i do?

I uninstalled boxee. i even deleted my boxee account online.

i downloaded boxee again. had it scan my movies source.

and lo and behold, it is displaying movies, specifically, video ts files that i deleted from that folder. it doesnt exist. this is getting really annoying. the only files that exist in the folder are single mkv files. yet boxee is displaying zombieland and the 30 video ts files with it. i deleted zombie from that folder. i have an mkv file of gran torino, yet boxee is displaying the video ts of gran torino which also doesnt exist.

ok, i finally fixed it. i created a new folder called movies 2. cut and pasted all the files from the first movies folder, into the new movies 2 folder. deleted the old folder and scanned the new folder in as the source. now all the movies appear correctly.

Ah, glad that you fixed it. Yeah, every once in a while Boxee's library scanner will do something odd like that. I haven't had it happen to me since the alphas, but I'm sure others have.

Here, this link should help: http://support.boxee.tv/forums/49599/entries/42737

Sorry, I should have posted that last night. Would have made things a lot easier.

Does uninstalling boxee not delete the library altogether?

I'm assuming that deleting the library or UserData should solve this... where else would boxee cache information about the library?

    How to do the above:

    No, it doesn't.

Personally, I think it would be a very good idea for the Boxee uninstaller to include an optional checkbox for a complete uninstallation. Most people just assume that it's deleting everything when it's not.

    Just an idea...

When uninstalling boxee, you will be prompted to "delete userdata folder?" CHeck it and it will completely delete that database with all your account settings and video files.

Upon reinstall, you will have a clean install with no history whatsoever of video files or user settings.
