    Default TrueHD Passthrough?

Is this possible? I have a 7.2 receiver that can decode TrueHD. I'm making mkv files out of my blurays, and simply muxing in the original audio tracks, many of which are TrueHD. When I try and play them from boxee, I get the "could not initialize audio" error popup. Here's what in the logs:

23:44:38 T:2699737968 M:1103065088 NOTICE: Creating audio device with codec id: 86064, channels: 6, sample rate: 48000, no pass-through
    23:44:38 T:2699737968 M:1101279232 ERROR: Initialize - hw_params_any, alsa error: -22 - Invalid argument
23:44:38 T:2699737968 M:1101152256 ERROR: Creating a Null Audio Renderer, Check your audio settings as this should not happen

Obviously the "no pass-through" is a problem here. I'm able to do passthrough for DTS tracks, although I haven't had one with DTS-HD (that will come later today).

That doesn't really help much. The BoxeeBox supports it, great

How do I get it working on my system?

As far as I know it should just work - but I'm not a Linux fanboy - hopefully some of your Linux cohorts can help

Hopefully you can get it going - sorry I can't do any more than comfirm it should function for you - hope you can get it to work!

Don't take this the wrong way -- but the 1600 is known to be under/powered/resourced to run Boxee and it's HD/video/audio content -- I would advise you check out judgeschambers Sig to get the 'scoop' on this scenario

I've actually got it running great. It runs 1080p mkv files at full fps with VDPAU installed. Only thing left is True-HD passthrough to my receiver

I actually filed a bug report about this some time ago, and it's as-yet unresolved: http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-4637

I don't think this is an issue specific to your hardware, rather that there are no stable, open source TrueHD decoders. I only recently made it in to MPlayer's trunk too

Right, I don't want the software to decode it, I want it to passthrough to my receiver to decode it (although software would be better than it is now!).

FWIW, I am able to play the files with XBMC, although it's via software I believe. I don't get any icons on my receiver telling me that it's doing the decoding like with DTS when playing via XMBC.

Default HDMI 1.4 -I haz it.

Deleted my OP as apparently that this bug does not appear in the BoxeeBox, just the software...

@MisterJamin: Thanks for filing that bug report too...
