Default Recognize today's Boxee fans in the future

Im quite convinced today's boxee fan base is the gadget crowd and Htpc aficionados.

I have concerns for boxee's aspiration to be a dumb blond settop box.

I say yes, that is absolutely the correct strategy for mass market penetration. But least we forget that the current users are not the "mass market"

In my opinion boxee needs an advanced mode for the savvy. Give the geek the power to control his viewing experience to a tee while keeping the grandmas life relatively trouble free.

Dare I ask for a tick box which requests commitment if you wish to be a superhero. And if undertaken give us Xbmc class tweaks.

    Thanks.

Is XBMC your answer? Or a Boxee skin for XBMC?

At the end of the day, the Boxee for "saavy" users is the PC software. Boxee does and probably always will contain a significant amount of markup and interpretted code. This code is managable on a computer and likely very difficult if not impossible to access on the Boxee Box...

So if you want Boxee to cater to the advanced users in their quest to make their product more mainstream, the answer is that they already are. If you have the PC software, you have something very, very manageable. Not to mention they release most of their source code with each major release. This means if you're saavy enough to develop additional libraries and integrate them with Boxee's source, you can compile yourself a pretty customized media center software.
