Thread: Windows Vista Installer

    Default Windows Vista Installer

Two things that I have hoping will be corrected in the installer for Windows but so far haven't been.

    1. When installing on Windows Vista/7 systems the installer should trip a UAC prompt.

    2. Ensure that the installer writes the Boxee program shortcuts to %AllUsersProfile%/Start Menu/Programs instead of the program files path of the user installing Boxee.

Please dont correct point 1 - we all know how annoying UAC is.

As anoying as UAC might be, not triggering the prompt causes an installation failure on a properly configured windows 7 or windows Vista system. For the average user this will be a turn off to boxee. Advising users to turn off UAC or in order to install and run ANY software is shortsighted and advocates weakining security.
