I must be missing something; I followed the below instructions just fine, no errors - I ran the patchstick twice just to make sure - but I don't see a Boxee item anywhere in the menu system. Should it be obvious as to where it is, or do I have to dig somewhere I haven't yet?

    1. Download the ATVUSB-Creator from http://code.google.com/p/atvusb-creator/
    2. Download the disk image of AppleTV 2.4 from http://mesu.apple.com/data/OS/061-62...4-5660-029.dmg
    3. Insert a "bootable" USB drive into your Pc/Mac
    4. Run the ATVUSB-Creator
    5. Click on Choose a DMG and point it to the downloaded disk image(point number 2 http://mesu.apple.com/data/OS/061-62...4-5660-029.dmg)
    6. Click on Create Using
    7. Remove the USB drive and plug it into your Apple TV
    8. Power on your Apple TV and the patchstick will run the ATV bootloader
    9. After the bootloader finishes, remove it and restart your Apple TV
    10. It now has options for Boxee / XBMC on the main menu
    11. Click on Boxee, then select update launcher and then update Boxee alpha
    12. Once boxee is done installing, restart your Apple TV
    13. Click "Boxee"

I try to run this update on XP... through the latest atv-win 2.0 software, and when I get to the "Create Patchstick" it allows me to pick the usb drive but requires me to put in a file name in order for the patchstick-creation process to begin. I didn't know what to put there so I just called it ATV Patchstick.... and it created ATV Patchstick.img on the usb drive.

Is there some other name I should give it?

    Default Apple T

Apple Mail in 10.6.8 is doing inline/embeded attachments. The recipments are getting them embded also and do not want them that way. I know we could zip or rename the file. Is there way to get Apple Mail to do a proper attachment. I know there are some third part utilites, some free some paid?

    Any help would be appreciated

If you have a 1st generation Apple TV (silver case), then you cab go to atvusb creator at http://code.google.com/p/atvusb-creator/

That will get you Boxee and XBMC.

If you have a 2nd generation ATV (small black case), try the Beginners guide to ATV2 at http://wiki.ackwardtv.org/wiki/Beginners_Guide_AppleTV2

There's no Boxee available for 2nd generation ATVs, but you can still get XBMC

    Good Luck
