    Exclamation Apple TV 2.3

after upgrading to 2.3 the Launcher and boxee/xbmc will not run.

if you want to keep using boxee, please do not upgrade until we figure it out

update: most issues resolved. down to 2 more problems to solve. patch should be ready tomorrow (we hope)

update 2: there is a manual install workaround, see http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=2121

update 3: new atvusb-creator, resolving most 2.3 issues, see http://forum.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=2180

I've turned off auto updates, hopefully this update isn't important, just adding some new crap.
    thanks raallf!

    An Update:

Some problem with XBMCLauncher and downloading, the screen goes black when starting the update/install but WILL return when the download completes. But the install script does not run so Boxee.app does not get installed. Manually running the script works and Boxee can then be launched by XBMCLauncher.

The good news is r2.3 adds IR learning and I've been running XBMC on r2.3 using a Hauppauge IR remote. Boxee should be similar Not clear yet if we can get access to more keys or not but this is good news despite the update hickup.

Default Sent a tip to TUAW.com for Apple TV 2.3 update and Boxee

I twittered Boxee last night re: my Apple TV updating to 2.3 and thus won't update Boxee/installer when you first install it. They are working on it.

    Also, here's an article from TUAW.com -

    http://www.tuaw.com/2008/11/19/apple...-2-3-released/

Sounds like I now will have to wait for USB Creator and Boxee to do a 2.3 version.

Ya I did the unthinkable ......and now my beloved boxee is gone (tear) it;s been only 20 minutes but feels like a life time. What I don't understand is steve said that apple tv was a hobby nothing more, then why not allow others to tweek it to better your product . I hope that they over at apple are looking to either work with boxee and create the best thing to come to tv or stop blocking the progress. if apple thinks they are to big to fall then look at the rear view (windows) they started pulling this crap and look where it got them.

How do you manually run the installer? Where is it?

For those who want to restore back to factory and then update to 2.2 manually I've zipped up the 2.2 updage DMG and HDMI, IR and other associated firmwares along with OSupdate.

    http://www.gigasize.com/get.php?d=xqfzbzcs5kb

You'll need to SCP these to the AppleTV.

To begin, place the OS or any other updates into /Users/frontrow/Updates on the Apple TV.

Next, copy the osupdate binary to the Apple TV. Make sure it is executable (chmod +x osupdate if necessary) and then execute it as root:
    Code:
    sudo ./osupdate
It will print a few lines of text, and your Apple TV should automatically reboot.

This won't touch your restore partition so you'll continue to have that to fall back on.

    Default Apple TV 2.3 Update

    Aaron,

What can I do if I can not ssh into Apple TV? I get a "bus error" every time I terminal and type "ssh frontrow@appletv.local"

If I can't ssh into Apple TV, I guess I can't use Boxee until you fix it with Apple TV 2.3, correct?

    Jeff
