    Default YouView

I checked the YouView specs ( The provisional ones ) and they include a 300MB disk for storage .. Also lots of security i.e. even put restrictions on JTAG cables so looks like one maybe able to use the disk to store protected media for showing latter. i.e. Like BBC iplayer desktop where you can download and then play later.

Is it just me, or does Dr Who look like he's inside a Boxee Box?

The specs require a YV,[wyevee, wifee! ] box to have a minimum 300GB HD and it must have Dual HD DVB-T2 tuners.

And the download at night to play later is a real must have.

    Yep its a winner.

The consortia involved in all this are global players and Boxee has to think hard about the future.

i'd feel sad to abandon boxee, but at the moment there are so many niggles that the YV box would solve.

    Under £200 and i'm sold.

Boxee just aren't developing for the UK quick enough. They're sure to have lost before they've really got stuck in at this rate....

The first Humax STB running YouView will be available later this month

Alongside Humax, other manufacturers are expected to announce YouView products in the future, and this could potentially include integrated television sets.
There is no web browser in the launch product or internet services such as YouTube or Facebook, but YouView suggested that this could be introduced in future products.

It seems it'll have more on demand content than Boxee. If it could play back the media file types that Boxee can and had a web browser with QWERTY keyboard I guess it'll match the Boxee in those areas! :-)

It'll be interesting to see what devices with YouView launch in the future. YouView on TVs? I wonder if an app could be developed for Boxee down the line, maybe on Boxee Box 2 with provides the DVR functionality? Wild guess on my part.

I think Now TV from Sky would be a great addition to Boxee. You never know, "others" may include Boxee. :-)

Execs discussing carriage with Sony (Playstation 3), Roku and others.
