Default Stuttering Video Playback Over Wifi

Hey everyone, i recently installed the new boxee beta on my desktop and laptop. Most of my movies are stored on my pc and while watching movies in the living room on my hd projector via laptop i've noticed that there is stuttering in movies every 4/5 secs. Here are my specs,

    Desktop
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
    4 Gigs 800 Mhz Ram
    Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512 MB
    100 MBps lan
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

    Laptop
    Sony Vaio F11 Series
    Intel Core i7-720Qm
    Geforce 330M 1 Gb
    6 Gigs 1033Mhz Ram
    Hdmi connection to projector
    Wireless N Network
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

I have a Cisco Wireless N router i just got 8 months ago. The PC has an ethernet connection to the router in the living room. The Laptop is Connected wirelessly to the router which is right next to it in the TV cabinet.

Video Playback is flawless on Windows Media Player and VLC Media Player. I have the CCCP codec pack installed on both the computers. Any Suggestions?

It was not clear which if not both pc's are experiencing this issue.

Both pc's have enough power and video cards.
The wired unit should not have any trouble
The wifi unit could as wifi is not always consistent

Lastly, you did not list what sources were doing this:Youtube, hulu, nbc etc. Or the show name. It would be best to for us to reproduce to make sure it's not the source.

I've seen AV software or routers cause this issue on high power systems that have the issue you describe. The cisco router may be the cause of the 4-5 second stutter or delay in either case. Especially if the same 4-5 second delay is happening on both.

Lastly, what is your internet speed from your ISP?

For now, make sure all video drivers, flash, and silverlight are all up to date.

This problem is experienced only on the laptop, occasionally, the router is not the cause of the delay as i cannot reproduce the problem on my acer revo which is a far less powerful system and is connected via wireless N to the router. The sources of my movies are mkvs stored on my desktop aka wired unit.

    I have a 30mbps down/6 mbps up speed connection.

All my systems are up to date

The best way to track it down is to eliminate the variables.

Try using wired connections between all machines and then switch them to wireless one by one to see if its network related. if not, you know its not the wireless.

I'd use FFDshow (tryouts) codec, you can monitor its performance and see if its your machine

And the winner is! Yes, this would have been my next post, but you beat me too it.

Seriously, if I had a dollar for every time a user with stuttering video claimed it was not his N or gigabit wifi....... I'd be freakin' rich by now.

Please, plug it into a Ethernet cord and test. With wifi issues (variables) you cannot compare it to another unrelated PC and or its connection or power.
