    Smile XBMC on BOXEE BOX

Please forgive me if this has already been covered. Will you be able to install XBMC on the BOXEE BOX? Where would you install it too as there is no Hard Drive?

    Thanks Guys

No, not possible at this time as it is a dedicated boxee box.

Yeah, I remember that too -- I think it was in the Q&A from months ago...

Hmmm, don't recall, but no matter. If it can, go for it.

Thanks for replies guys...I kinda remember Avner saying that as well. I love Boxee but love other aspects of XBMC as well. I cant wait to get my hands on a Boxee Box that remote looks so sweet too. I love the fact that it is RF as well too..

i recall talk of hacker friendly and i could swear talk of xbmc on boxee box ...

I tell you guys right now if boxee box can run stock XBMC (Especially with Aeon) you just sold 4 units to me for each room... I like Boxee, but come Aeon+XBMC would be spectacular......

Wish we could get confirmation on this as i recall it being mentioned at ces

I'm fairly sure Avner mentioned it being modification friendly but I don't have a source for that at the moment. It might have been in one of his blog posts.

Also the Boxee Box does have some internal memory set aside for some routine functionality and for the app itself so I could see it being possible to dump the firmware on the Box for an XBMC variant. Might require some tweaking but I don't think it'd be that difficult.

I really hope xbmc can be ported over to it as be nice to have nice box/remote cheap with with xbmc on it. I would love to keep boxee on it but for some reason the powers that be decided nfo support is not needed while my 6TB of data it cant find says otherwise..

I remember avner talking about it being hacker friendly, but in the recent preorder blog post someone asked about xbmc on the box and avner replied 'Boxee shared a large codebase with XBMC, so in essence you get most of XBMC’s goodness, but the Boxee Box that D-Link is making is only running Boxee at this point.'
