I love Boxee. It's the best thing since sliced bread...but with one exception - metadata.
I use Media Center Master to organise all my TV shows and movies; it's great, it grabs the metadata, stores it in an XML file for each episode or movie, and grabs a poster or screenshot (wherever applicable). It claims to support Boxee, which is why until now I've been really confused as to why the metadata in Boxee differs to that in MCM, and the posters/screenshots are different (if Boxee ever gets any).
I've been doing some research and am now aware that Boxee grabs all the metadata and images from IMDB, and has dropped support for sites like TheTVDB.org. Personally, I think that's a poor move.
My question is this: why drop support for the XML files? I can understand not using scrapers for TVDB and TMDB (amongst others) within Boxee itself, but why drop support for XML files? It's a bit presumptuous to assume that all pre-existing metadata and images were obtained without copyright approval, and even if it was how does that affect Boxee?
So, is there any chance of getting support for pre-existing XML-based metadata and associated images loaded back into Boxee? From the amount of threads I've found on Google, this would be a very popular feature!
