Thread: 4166 Boxee still won't exit

  1. #1

Default 4166 Boxee still won't exit

When I want to return to the Apple TV menus, as that's where all our content is for the time being, Boxee hangs. It was doing this after a while with the previous version, and continues to do so in this version.

Choosing "Exit" and then "Exit" again, sees Boxee hang at that screen. I can still access the ATV via SSH, but it doesn't return to the "regular" Apple TV menus and the only way to fix it is to ssh in and reboot via the "shutdown" command in the CLI.

Anyone else experiencing this, and is there a fix?

Same here. Have to manually reboot the ATV every time I exit boxee with this latest version.

No fix, but a workaround. If you have ssh open, run 'ps aux', find the Boxee.app line, get the 'pid' from it, then use 'kill 1234' (replacing 1234 with the Boxee.app pid). Not sure if that leaves Boxee in a bad state or not (only did that once, then rebooted shortly after), so use at your own risk, etc

Yup, I now have to log into my ATV and reboot every time.

But I can deal. Boxee has enough game to make it worth my while.

I have found exiting Boxee is hit or miss - on occasions it would exit to the apple menu, at other times I just pulled the power cord out after no response fro several minutes. I don't think this is the safest method but dont know an alternative

This is what I have been doing as well. Has worked fine so far without rebooting. You can also just type "reboot" at the command prompt to save wear on the power cord.

Put me on the list for those who cannot get boxee to exit without a reboot.

    Same problem here.
Also, connecting via ssh and doing the reboot command gives me "operation not permitted". Gotta unplug the cord.
