    Default Spotify integration/app

I hereby open this thread to investigate the interest in having an Spotify integration or app.

The availability for Spotify has been expanded by adding The Netherlands (https://www.spotify.com/int/blog/arc...8/netherlands/), since that day I am using it with a premium account and me and my girlfriend have never been this happy with music.
It just lacks the interface from 10ft.

Boxee would be the perfect match, I also think the development of this integration/app will not be that difficult since the XBMC version allready exists:

Let me/us know what you think.

Would not mind that at all tbh.

I wouldn't mind to see it, but I will point out that just because an app exists for XBMC doesn't mean it's easily available for Boxee. Boxee has diverged and has a unique developer api.
    Common issues w/ Boxee:
Beta Important Info | FAQ & Support Requests | Hulu Mature Content | Search

    UnBoxeed app development:
    Comics.com | ESPN360 | Weather

I am a big user of Spotify here in the UK.

I have it installed at home on my media PC in the lounge, my Mac in my home office, my iPod Touch, my HTC Hero, my works computers and have many friends who actively use Spotify since I introduced them to it.
The £10 I pay each month for a premium subscription is worth every single penny.

I would happily pay an extra £1 or more to be able to run Spotify via Boxee, and would be a very enticing app for many people I know that would encourage them to use Boxee.

There are plugins available for Windows 7 Media Centre and XMBC. I have tried the W7MC plugin and it is dreadful at best - search only, no playlist support or sharing. I have not tried the XMBC plugin as I quickly moved from XMBC to Boxee.

However, this is my list of must have have Spotify plugin features:

    + Search
    + Album Art
    + Artist BIO
    + Artist Discography
    + Playlist creation
    + Playlist playback
    + "Star"ing ability
+ Sharing (To FB and Twitter)
    + Last.FM Scrobbling

I do not care about being able to browse friends playlists, although this would be a nice feature to have.

Is the spotify dev/com team stupid ?

I mean i love their service but making the user pay for developping an app which is beneficial for them, come on...

I'm a recent boxee user and since i know a bit of python i've started to dig content about making a spotify app for boxee, everything went well until i learned that i needed to be a spotify premium user.

I start to understand why there is not spotify app on boxee yet. Paying for developping is a joke.

Heard of Spotify but it isn't available in the US right?

Now I know how everyone in the UK feels about Netflix streaming.

I haven't looked into this in a while but one the fact that they allow unofficial clients access to their service is already very cool of them. Yes they require premium accounts when you use an unoffical client (which usually uses the despotify library or something similar). I guess the tradeoff is that it becomes a purely streaming service when you access it with an unofficial client (only the official client does p2p which reduces their bandwidth costs).

Ooook, i misunderstood the whole idea... that's not just for the developers but also for the users, that makes sense now, and especially for the reasons described above.

I really want this. Spotify is amazing and running it via boxee on a big screen would be great
