i run boxee 0.9.20 on: ubuntu 9.10, windows xp sp3 (virtual machine), windows 7 and a neuros link hacked to all hell.
what super powers does a 'super mod' have? the 'super ban'... that, and laser vision.
is boxee going to use the final version of xbmc for further development?
boxee is closer to a branch than a fork of xbmc...
in that: they still pull features/fixes for the xbmc tree, and submit features/fix back, where appropriate.
unlike, say, plex... which is a kinda douchie fork, form my understanding.
short: yes, boxee will continue to incorporate changes for the xbmc tree, for the foreseeable future.

Plex just released a new version (0.7) which includes full itunes support. That means artwork and all, with the ability to play DRM tracks, support for itunes visualizers. They also include tv theme music, a backend media server for over the network streaming, and the ability to launch front row and dvd player from within plex.
Doesn't sound douchie at all to me, in fact these are the same features most boxee users are requesting.
I've been using the new version 0.7 for just a couple hours now but it's pretty freaking cool. I'd recommend checking it out. http://www.plexapp.com
