    Default HDDVD/Blu Ray Support?

I'm very excited about Boxee and have only been playing around with it for a few days. I must say so far I'm really excited. I'm ALMOST ready to commit to buying the actual box when it comes out in August!

The one thing that's holding me back is HDDVD/Blu Ray playback. I've recently ripped all my HDDVDs to disk (Well over a TB of data!) and want to play these on Boxee. Are there plans to support these? I think I can say that without this feature, I will not be buying a Boxee box. But if this support is added, I'm all in for sure.

I agree that this would be a great feature.

Depending on what format you ripped them to should should already be able to play them.

Agreed -- my system/Boxee will play them as m2ts', MKVs and ISOs (if the BD ISOs are first mounted on a virtual Drive) the vir. drv. is not needed for DVDs -- and Boxee plays Blu-Ray discs burnt from the above ISOs also

One note - content has to first be playing in the BD optical drive (and/or a DVD opt drive) before Boxee will recognize it - otherwise the drives assigned letter will not be listed under "Files" to be accessed/played from

I basically just did a direct rip of all my HDDVDs using AnyDvdHD. No encodes or anything yet. I don't want to do any encoding if I don't have to =)

I haven't ripped any of my blu rays yet.

If your decrypting app is running in the background, Boxee 'will' play from the original BD on your Opt Drive - or a BD burnt from the decrypted file/ISO

If playing from rips - Boxee has no problems at all -- one note - on my system I need to first mount BD ISOs on a virtual drive (the vir. drv. is not needed for DVD ISO rips)

You really should consider encoding them into a high quality x264 1080p mkv file. 1:1 rips of BluRays are a waste of space IMHO.

To each their own. Maybe someday I'll worry about encoding all my rips if space becomes an issue.
