Thread: Audio/Video Sync Issues

    Default Audio/Video Sync Issues

I am using the 32-bit Linux version Boxee Beta 0.9.21.12568 and I am having problems with some videos (Local Content) the audio and the Video don't sync up and it is worse with this version then previous versions. I really wish that there was a way to use VLC as the player that plays videos in Boxee. Also in this version there is a lot of weird stuff happens when you are in files, really slow or crashes Boxee.

That's pretty strange. I haven't had any of those issues with the 32 or 64bit linux versions.

    1. How are your videos encoded? (mkv, mp4, avi, etc.)

    2. What kind of hardware are you using? (CPU, RAM, vid card)

    3. Do you have hardware accelleration enabled in boxee?

    4. What version of linux are you running?

    1. mp4

    2. Revo 3610 w/2gb Memory

    3. Yes

    4. Ubuntu 9.10

It does not do it on most videos, but when it does it is very annoying.

Well, the specs on that Revo are nearly identical to my atom330/ION netbook, which rarely if ever has trouble with audio sync, and usually only when I've done a lot of skipping forward and back right at the beginning of a video. I've found that it seems to take just a few seconds to sync up at the beginning of the video.

Beyond that, the only meaningful difference between what I'm running, and what you're running, is that I'm using 10.04. If you've got a good internet connection, downloading and installing all upgrades from 9.10 to 10.04 probably only takes about 45 minutes. As an added bonus, 10.04 is a "LTS" version, and it's been out long enough that most all of the major bugs have already been handled.

I know mythtv has a setting that gave me errors like that from time to time. I think it had something to do with using video time index to sync audio and was marked as experimental.

The only thing I can think of is rename your ~/.boxee folder and then try it again when boxee creates a new clean settings folder.

And just to ask the obvious question - do these videos play correctly when played outside boxee in vlc or mplayer?

Yes they play fine in VLC, MPlayer, and Quicktime.
