I have the same problem as the original parent comment.
I recently upgraded to win 7 on both the boxee box and my file server.
I copied the old binary (version 0.9.23.15885) and settings. This perserved my old "local sources", however, navigating to them in the file browser did not work at all. I get the message "failed to retrieve data". Soooo.... the next thing i did was delete the shares and try and re add them using local sources.
However, my windows 7 server with the shares on it does not show up. What DOES show up, is the shares, but the name is not the name of my file server, but rather WORKGROUP.
so i am expecting SERVER\tv shows, and instead it gives me WORKGROUP\tv shows. wrokgroup is the name of the local workgroup that both pcs are a part of. I can also see other PC's and their shares on the network. One is a linux server.
I have a feeling this has to do with the new "homegroup" sharing feature, but i have turned that off when i installed windows 7. I think it somehow maps shares to your workgroup, but i didnt read too much about it as it seemed too n00bish.
If i map the drive in windows, say mapping "SERVER\tv shows" to Z: drive, i can then access it in boxee. THat seems to be the only way to work around this issue.
Also when i browse the "network" from inside boxee, i get all of the same workgroup/FOLDER mappings that do not resolve to anything.
Once again, the network is fine, boxee is just doing something weird here. Even though this bug is marked as "fixed" it is not.
I should also mention that manually inputting credentials and forcing it to look at the SERVER machine, either by name or IP does not work either. Just bounces my back to the "network list" with all the workgroup shares.
Both machines are windows 7, SERVER is x64 and boxee is x86. different, LEGIT keys as well.
