Question H.264 Codec No Video (Black Screen) With Audio

Boxee support states that H.264 is supported but when I play files using that codec in Boxee I get a black screen with just the audio. I have the latest version of Boxee for Windows 7 64-Bit. My graphics drivers are up to date. I'm using an ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card. The videos play perfect in other media players with the help of the CCCP. Any idea on how to fix this?

Updated DX? Is the file .mp4 container or some other container?

Boxee uses it's own codec packs and does not use any codecs installed on the machine.
    Notes:
Boxee's media player is based on ffmpeg, as such it does not support drm'd files.
Boxee's media player/codec/container support is entirely internalized, and does not use the host operating system's media framework. (i.e.: Windows' directshow, mac's quicktime, linux's gstreamer)
I'm wondering if it is some unsupported codec or encoding on the vid file ....as H264 .MP4 and other container types encoded with h264 play OK on my Win-7 machines running Boxee.

Have you used a program like MediaInfo to determine the file,s exact makeup? Please post those details so we can sort things out.

Can you post your debug logs? Have your tried toggling the "Enabled Hardware option" under Settings > Video > Player ?

I just tried turning off hardware assisted decoding and the video seems to play fine now.

    Marcel,

Does this occur with machines that do not have GPU acceleration capable video cards or something?

I have a machine with a vid card that does not support acceleration, but I've never had to uncheck that option in boxee to fix any video playback.

    BB,
What video card do you have and OS?

Both were mentioned above but here you go:

Graphics Card = ATI Radeon HD 5770
    OS = Windows 7 64-bit

Default Another case - H.264 Codec No Video (Black Screen) With Audio

I have come across the same issue!
    Geforce 8400GS and Windows 7 32 Bit
H.264 movies only have audio but no video.
When I used boxee on the same PC under Win XP - everything worked fine.

If anyone has come accross a solution, I'd be glad to hear about it.

IF not - can anyone point me in the direction of how to disable HW acceleration?
