Default Boxee - Issues with SMB, missing files

Files hosted on a Windows Home Server (WHS), latest boxee running on Windows 7 64-bit. Scanning the SMB shares (i.e. media source listed as: smb://SERVER/Movies) from the WHS system gives inconsistent results, but 90% of the time returns with two or three files found when 30+ exist on the share, all MKVs, and all playable via VLC and Sage HD200 (accessing via the same shares). When it does find the files, it will later "un-find" them.

Note that the connection is all via wired connections through a gigabit switch. No other hosts on the network appear to be experiencing any connectivity issues.

    Ideas?

I too use boxee and WHS.

This has noting to do with the file types or WHS. It is most likely a mix of how you have them named and if they are even listed on the IMDB.com web site.
If they are not main stream movie tittles, but your own clips, they will not get indexed and will only be seen via the Files icon.

Please, read the First Stop link in my sig. Agentlame has all the info there about naming and I have all the info on video file containers, drivers, video cards needed to play in boxee.

Start there with naming if they are actual DVD or TV shows. Then go to your source file set up and click to rescan. Then leave it alone for about 30 minutes. Then check the Movies or TV shows icon and see if they show up there.

Also in Settings, the default is to ignore video files less than 50 MB in size.

    Good suggestion.

Not knowing what type of movie files he's talking about, it could be that or they are videos not found on IMDB.com i.e. dvd movies and such.

In either case, those videos are not indexable. So, they will show only under the Files icon.
