Default Navi-x problem - Locking up

I just recently started trying to use Watchseries on boxee to watch tv shows. It worked like a charm the first time but ever since then, now every time I open Navi-x it wont even go to the main menu. It just gives me the perpetual loading symbol and if I try to back out it locks up the boxee completely. I'm not sure if Watchseries is responsible for this issue, but it is the only thing I can think of since this didn't start happening until after i used it for the first time. Anyone have any ideas what the issue is? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!!

Yeah, we had all sorts of issues yesterday with the server and outages. They should all be resolved now that the weekend is over. I've been told we need to have a look at resource issues and we are getting on a new server today with twice the power. Hopefully, that will stabilize the service outages we have been getting on weekends. Sorry and thanks!

I had to reinstall the repository but, now I get buffering from sources I did not have a problem with before. Do I need to wait a little longer and let everything settle in?

If you haven't power cycled your modem and router in a week, I would try that. Also, the sources are pretty much crap on weekends, generally speaking now. Not all are like that though. Each website is it's own infrastructure and you can't just make the blanket statement that "All sources are bad right now", cause we haven't really reached excessive limits like this yet on the internet where all sites have bad buffering, sometimes you really need to consider file sources you wouldn't normally rely on.

I been using FileNuke and Vidbux for a minute and fair out pretty well with those, but everyone is different because we are in different locations, on different ISP's with different levels of plans... EVERYTHING regarding computers communicating back and forth makes a difference in the equation and I can no longer spend the time pinpointing current issues at that time and moment for all Navi-X users... it's just asking too much quite frankly, which is why I make general troubleshooting guides and tutorials because I'm not about to engage people with that much time into troubleshooting anymore.

I used to do this really as a test of my troubleshooting abilities but nowadays, there are just too many users to pinpoint issues for anymore. I wouldn't be able to enjoy life if I troubleshot every time someone asks me "Why is this happening to me right now at this particular junction in my life that Navi-X is buffering"... I'd simply have to be there with you and see it fail to give you a possible answer off the cuff.

While I absolutely understand all users want to do is resolve their issues, there are too many variables in streaming that affect service for me to discuss and for people to understand. I have already explained this in a few Navi-X wiki's, but I will try to elaborate and revise it later.

I'd say the best rule of thumb for people to remember when thinking to themselves, "Why is a file source from Navi-X buffering on my boxee box?" and then to consider time, date and general public usage and accessibility... all these things decide when and what buffers and you don't need a guy like me to nail down your issue everytime. Trust in your gut and use a process of elimination until you find out which area is suspect possibly. Most of the time... you'll be right.

Sorry but I do not believe I said that all sources are buffering I said that I was getting buffering from sources that I did not have a problem with in the past. I will use your suggestion to reboot my router and modem and see if that makes a difference. I thought that the buffering might have been a result of whatever you had done with the server over the weekend and I was only being a good little user and reporting what might have been a "bug".

I did as you suggested and power cycled my modem and router and it solved most of the buffering problems. Thanks

    Cool This thing rocks...

I've had my BB for 4 days and I am very happy with it's performance so far. I have 1TB of TV shows and movies on external drives and the metadata that was gathered was very impressive. Descriptions for, I'd say 200 out of 205 movies were loaded along with cast and crew information. I was able to manually search for and 'identify' the unknown videos, which then became part of my main library. Same with the TV shows...about a 90-95 percent success rates. Even IMDB ratings!

Right off the bat I was somewhat disappointed. The content filters were all U.S based...channels like CBS, FOX, FX...they aren't available to us canucks. I updated it shortly after powering the thing on for the first time and was happy to see that i now had canadian media providers..channels like CTV, History Channel(?), Slice, Comedy Network, and Space to name a few. I'm a scifi nut so seeing that EVERY episode of Sanctuary was on there got me pumped! Also all of Tosh,0 is on there. Niiiice.

I then explored music and playlists. Cover art for about 70 percent of albums were found, no big deal really. I created playlists in winamp then shared them on a network share. I had to find out that relative paths were to be used in order for the playlist to work. No biggie.

Then, last night actually, I find out about Navi-X. If it's as good as people are saying, this boxee box is here to stay. I'm trying to make it break but it won't. About 24 hours of 'on' time and usage, no lockups. There is the occasional error with streaming but I can deal with that..it's understandable.

I can safely say that I could see myself ditching cable tv and going with a good internet package with a high cap coupled with the BB.

Also, I had a 100 gift card towards this little box so it only cost me a just over a hundred bucks..bonus.

ive encountered a slight problem when using the "mega movies collection" playlist in the navi-x app on boxee, when I open the movie2k playlist and skip a few pages the boxee box freezes and resets itself, this happens almost every time
