Thread: Browser and other stuff

    Default Browser and other stuff

    Hi there,

I would love to be able to browse the web with the TV via Boxee. So my feature request would be an integrated web-browser optimized for none keyboard/mouse use (maybe similar like on the nintendo wii?).

I also agree with other people that live TV would add a lot to Boxees usability.
(if Boxee could act like a software satellite receiver would be amazing!)

Beeing able to control lights, heaters and having integrated Chats and VOIP similar like on LinuxMCE would be need but low priority in my point of view (at least for now )

    Thanks
    Oli

Uh I just got another Idea.

How about a Boxee Linux distro, which has nothing on it expect everything it needs to boot into Boxee straight away without any gnome or kde interfaces.

Because this Linux would have nothing else on it, it would probably boot very fast.

I think many people would want to use there shuttle/ dell studio hybrid / eeebox / mac mini and similar as Media center computer only and would appreciate if they are in Boxee soon after they hit the power button.

i agree. we actually used to have something like this in the early testing phases of boxee on linux, where we did not want friends and family to worry about the underlying os. i've been thinking for a while to update the script that automated this type of install.

Something like this would be a huge hit among the home multimedia experience as the hardware needed to build if not buy a system for this kind of operation is very affordable. Then throw in a lightweight system backend with boxee on the front is asking to be a huge hit. I know I'd use it. +1
