    Default Remote Problems

I really would like to use Boxee. It's the only "easy" way to watch some shows that are not available on Hulu Desktop (like CBS), but it's very frustrating. I cannot get a remote of any kind to work properly to pause video. I've tried the Boxee remote for my iPhone. I've tried our Harmony Remote. I've tried the Apple Remote. I've used screen sharing and VNC to control the Mac Mini desktop and tried to use the mouse, etc. I've changed the remote settings over and over to try to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

In short, either the pause/play doesn't work at all (even though the program is allowed to pause - I realize some aren't), or the setting gets reversed. The indicator bar on boxee will say that the video is paused, when in reality it's playing, and vice versa.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this?

    Thanks.

So have you tried using the OSD buttons for pause/play -- this would require hitting ok/enter from a remote, then navigating to the pause/play in the OSD menu as needed (using left/right on a remote), and then clicking ok/enter on the remote.

I can't say I've ever seen what you're describing as far as the pause/play indicators being the opposite of what Boxee was actually doing especially with the iPhone remote app...

Yes - I have tried the OSD buttons, but just did so again for good measure. I clicked the pause button after pulling up the OSD, and now it shows "paused" while the video happily rolls on. This is where I get into the "backwards" situation where it shows paused while playing, and sometimes playing while paused. Tonight I can't get it to pause at all, so I'm not "backwards" - I'm just not pausing. I can STOP the video this way, so I know that the stop button works - but then that just makes me have to watch the video again from the beginning because it doesn't allow seeking.

I've had this Mac Mini setup for about 3 months, and honestly I've never gotten Boxee to work properly in this respect. Also, I was having trouble getting kicked off the network any time I was in Boxee, but I got a new wireless router about two weeks ago, and I've not seen this happen - could be the WAP or the new version of Boxee I guess! In any event, the remote not working makes watching streaming video unusual for us for the most part. I was hoping that now that the network seems to not freak out when Boxee is online, we'd be able to actually watch CBS and a few other things this way, but it's not looking that promising!

    Thanks.

Is this CBS content that causes this? If so, what show?
This issue definitely seems to happen with WB video that actually plays through Hulu. You have to press an onscreen button to continue, but when you do that, Boxee thinks it is in Pause mode. However in my case, pressing Pause again for Play mode really does pause it.

Last night when I was testing it was CBS - NCIS, and Comedy Central - The Daily Show (which we typically watch in Hulu anyway - it's only CBS really that has shows we watch that we can't find elsewhere online).

Honestly, I got the Mac Mini in about February, and we've never been able to really watch anything in the "TV" shows section without trouble. It's become easier for these shows that aren't available on Hulu to go directly to CBS in Safari and control with Air Mouse on the iPhone than to try to use Boxee for this content.
