I am running ubuntu karmic and installed 32-bit beta from website.
Install seems to go through cleanly but when I run boxee from Applications/sound and video screen blanks briefly and then I get the waiting cursor for quite a long time before boxee disappears, i.e. I get no boxee screen displayed at all.
Looking at other threads seems to be an X/GL issue of some kind but of all the advice that I have seen none of it seems to help me with identifying the problem.
From System/administration/hardware drivers I can confirm that I am running version 185 of the nvidia accelerated graphics driver.
I can also confirm that System/preferences/appearance/visual effects is set to None.
When I run glxinfo I can see 'direct rendering: yes'
I am running a laptop with a separate monitor plugged into it although even when I unplug the extra monitor and reboot I still get the same error.
Graphics card is geforce 7150M
Just for completeness this is what I get when I run boxee from a terminal....
27/03/10 23:52:39#DEBUG#bxbgprocess.cpp:180(Start)#bg process initialized. [m_lazy=1] so m_maxNumOfWorkingThreads was set to [2]
27/03/10 23:52:39#DEBUG#bxbgprocess.cpp:180(Start)#bg process initialized. [m_lazy=1] so m_maxNumOfWorkingThreads was set to [1]
27/03/10 23:52:39#DEBUG#bxcurl.cpp:93(Initialize)#curl initialized. version <7.19.5>
Running Boxee test...
And the log goes to... /tmp/david-boxee.log
is rtorrent running: 0
Aborted
./run-boxee-desktop: 38: /opt/boxee/give_me_my_mouse_back: not found
Has anybody got any ideas where i should look next. Any assistance really gratefully received!
