Default CNN Live has never worked - why?

I have never been able to get CNN Live stream to work (via the Clicker app). Is anyone else able to watch it? The stream plays fine via Firefox.

FYI, I'm running the current beta version of Boxee on Windows XP sp3. Flash 10, Move player, and Octoshape for flash are installed.

Has not worked for me or anyone that I know of. Might be an issue with the app itself or the feed. Beyond that, not sure.

I agree with you, it must be something related to the feed or the app since I can stream form the cnn.com on linux with no problems.

    Cheers,

Boxee updates do not affect apps. It's the app developer that has to make changes to fix the app.

This is not entirely accurate. Even less so, in this case.

Granted, if some functionality in an app is defective, this will require an update to the app itself.

However, when it comes to basic playback, that is all Boxee. If some Flash stream is not being properly encapsulated and played-back, there is nothing the app dev can do. (which is the case for CNN's Live Stream, I think.)

Now, if the app is giving Boxee some malformed content or URL, that is another issue entirely. Then, it is up to the developer to fix their app.

In the case of CNN, the live stream has almost never worked correctly. In two different apps--News Freak and Clicker--the live stream just does not work. I can speak personally about CNN's Live Flash player, and attest to the fact that it is a pain to get working in Boxee. (Though, that was a long time ago, using a much different Boxee API.)

Short: This is something on Boxee's end. Something I wish they would fix... as I dearly miss live CNN.
