Boxee Beta won't recognize any movie or TV show, only music. The problem is not with the file's names, as it does recognize the exact same files on a different computer with Boxee Beta installed.
Boxee Alpha works just fine.
Any ideas?

What OS? On the computer that Boxee doesn't recognize shows/movies, are those files local or on the network somewhere?
There are problems with network sources (SMB issues) that may be effecting your set up. The work around is to map those shared folders as local drives and then point Boxee to them via local media sources rather than as network media sources.

Running Boxee under Windows XP.

Here's what I would do in your shoes:
Uninstall Boxee via the Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs. When prompted to remove the User Profile, do it.
Double-check that the userdata folder was removed (see: http://support.boxee.tv/entries/4273...serdata-folder for location of the folder by OS)
Reinstall Boxee. Set up your media sources and then let it run several hours more or less undisturbed.
