Default Clean install of Boxee on Apple TV

I used to have boxee and loved it... The apple TV has been reset to factory and run apple updates.
I formated a USB stick on my mac. Then ran the ATV USB Creator form the mac. I said completed. I plugged the USB into the Apple TV and unplugged then plugged it back in- The Apple logo flashes a few times the does the normal Apple Boot movie. I then held the Menu and - on the remote and did a restart. The same thin Happened. I then tried to SSH to the apple TV I got a connection refused error.

Most of the threads and helps do not ake much sense. The 'Simple instructions'
    http://support.boxee.tv/forums/49598/entries/42684
don't say how to make a USB stick Bootable.

Also it is not clear how to tell boxee installed on the apple TV coarrectly- What should I see if it worked

    Thanks

You need to use the latest atvusb_creator (I think it's b13).

You need to have a compatible usb stick (if it came with U3 installed, then you need to download a utility from the manufacturer to remove U3 sub-system first before running the atvusb_creator)

    http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=38870

the above thread, lists ones that are known to work.

Finally, if you do not see a picture of a penguin sat on an ATV when you boot from the patchstick, then it hasn't worked. When it's finished (after many lines of text) it'll say that you can unplug the usb stick and reboot.

If you have got this far, then when you reboot you will see a Launcher menu entry, go to Launcher --> Downloads --> Boxee Beta and then this will install Boxee.

When that's finished, press menu to exit back to main Launcher menu and select Boxee to launch.

    Done!

    Hope this helps,

    Jim

    I did download b13 (from http://code.google.com/p/atvusb-creator/ the link goes to: http://atvusb-creator.googlecode.com...or-1.0.b13.zip )

thanks for the link- I recommend the the simple instructions include a compatibility list

I am using an incompatible usb drive (Kingston DataTraveler 4GB = Doesn't Boot)

    I am trying a data traveler 2GB

That's the spirit! I use a crappy old 512MB stick - nothing fancy and seems to work ok. The newer and bigger the USB drive the more likely it's going to be a pain in the arse!

    Good Luck...
