    Default TS_video files

I read somewhere on the forum, that DVD ripped to TS_ file format will not import into TV show instead shows in movies. First why is this happening?

I have a lot of TV shows ripped, what are my options...

Would I need to change file formats for all my TV shows VS Movies?

Could you provide a citation? I've never heard this -- boxee scrapps files according to IMDB standards; if IMDB says a file is a movie, then boxee makes it so...

Video_TS files are hit and miss for some users. For some, they work, for others, not so much...

I've heard that converting _TS to ISO increases reliability in Boxee.

I found what I remember reading on the forum:

notes and considerations on file types

boxee supports both ISO and VIDEO_TS/VOB file systems.
however, they can only be recognized as movies, not tv series.

Are you saying this is know longer an issue?

I have an issue with VIDEO_TS/VOB files.

I started with ISO's way back when I began using XBMC on XBOX. I've been using a few other media front ends lately that don't support ISO and since VOB works in XBMC, I've been switching. Now I have started trying out Boxee and put about 15 movies on my test box in the same folder. About 1/2 are ISO and the other are DVDFab 6 rips to VIDEO_TS folder structure.

BOXEE does not recognize ANY of the VIDEO_TS movies. This is maddening!! I wanted to have all XBMC functionality and not worry about format support!

I'm using the latest 10711 BETA. Any thoughts?

Can you provide a few examples of the complete path and filename of the non-recognized movies?

I recommend you use ISOs. By the look of the screenshot you have quite a comprehensive library. What I would recommend is you use a command line archiver that has a recursive function and put everything into ISOs.

So here is the problem and it seems to have come full circle.

I am not set on using XMBC or BOXEE. I'm also evaluating a few appliances/software programs (SageTV HD Theater, NetGear Digital Entertainer, Windows 7 Media Center, MVix Ultio Pro, etc.) and other things.

Until BOXEE came around, ISO (my favorite format actually) seems to be the least preferred format overall. I went the rounds on the SageTV forums begging for ISO support in their Media Server, but continually got shot down because "who would want ISO?, just extract it into VIDEO_TS structure!"...very FRUSTRATING!!!!

So I've been giving into VIDEO_TS folder format when ripping newly purchased movies so I can evaluate the broadest range of solutions which worked fine until BOXEE. I'm now at yet another brick wall.

I was just getting ready to extract all my ISO's to VIDEO_TS structure...UGH! If you can't hear me...I'm cursing right now.

I guess I"m confused as to the problem, I thought you liked ISO files.

Because of your very last sentence: May I ask what is wrong with ISO container and What is the benefit of not having your TS files in an ISO container.
