    Default dark screen

After following the suggestions posted elsewhere on this forum about liblzol and libdirectfb-1.0-0, I was able to get boxee to install, using apt-get, under ubuntu 9.10. That's the good news.

The bad news is that, although boxee appears in the applications menu under sound and video, starting it produces a black screen. It stays black until I wiggle the mouse around, and hit a few random keys. At that point, the ubuntu screen comes back. There's no indication boxee ever ran.

    Anyone have ideas?

Is the output dumped on the log file?

You can find it in /tmp

Can you point me to where in the forums it helped you with liblzol? I've searched for liblzol and this is the only post I can find.

I'm trying to install Boxee on Ubuntu 9.10 using apt-get.

After just typing in various things to see what would happen I was able to get Boxee installed by:

    1. downloading it from the Boxee website,
    2. running "sudo apt-get -f install", then
    3. running "sudo dpkg --install boxee-xxx.deb"
