Thread: Video/application stutter with certain apps/videos when using boxee iphone app.

  1. #1

Default Video/application stutter with certain apps/videos when using boxee iphone app.

I have ran into an interesting problem with Boxee paired with the boxee iphone app on windows. Apparently, certain videos or apps begin to stutter when the boxee iphone app is on and connected. If I close the iphone application, the video stuttering goes away. Re-open the boxee app and connect, video stuttering begins.

When playing videos and going back to browse more of Boxee, the performance of boxee stutters or skips as well.

So far I have tested this on two computers. One has 10.1 flash beta and the other has regular 10. I also have MoveNetworks player, firefox, direct x update, and it does so on the following apps on both computers:

    Youtube
    Fora.tv
    PBS

I will have to return to post some more apps when I get back from where I'm going.

If specs of both windows PCs are needed, please let me know. To sum it up. One has a Nvidia 9800GT, the other is a laptop with the Intel MHD chipset that is supported by Boxee. Both are Dual-Core (AMD and INTEL CORE 2 DUO)

    Anyone else experiencing this?

It appears to have been reported by marcel in early January:
    http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-4116

Doesn't look like they've found a solution yet.

    Default Thanks.

I guess I'm going to open a Jira account that way I'm not flooding the forums with already active bugs. Any core areas Boxee (or your recommendations) where I should be searching for bugs?

Eh, sometimes it's good for people to come to the forums first, so the dev's don't get swamped with duplicates or false-positives.

Any core areas Boxee (or your recommendations) where I should be searching for bugs?
Are you searching for bugs to report? The dev's are always looking for a good beta tester...

If so, the "core" areas to be looking for bugs arn't actually "core" at all, but the "peripheral" areas where no one tends to look... Eg:
    • Music: Most people use Boxee for local movies and Hulu/TV shows... but the music section is over looked. There's plenty of issues there...
    • Putting heavy load on apps: many people use only a few apps, and rarely heavily use all the apps. Try picking an app you suspect is rarely used and really put it to use.
    • Do endurance testing - sometimes boxee has issues when using apps/features over longer periods of time (eg, pandroa sometimes freaks out, and boxee might crash)

Be sure all your peripheral software is up to date
Be sure to search rigorously before posting
Be sure you have your advancedsettings.xml file in your UserData folder so you can submit debug boxe.log
