I seem to get stereo, but 5.1 sources are silent, and Boxee tells me to check my audio settings. Unfortunately I don't see what I have set wrong - anyone have this working?
This is with latest Boxee beta on an Acer Revo 3610, Windows 7 64.

You need to change the audio settings on the Revo to use HDMI and 5.1 aduio (there are 3 settings, 2 channel, 5.1 and 7.1). The default is NOT HDMI and stereo. Also, the audio has two seperate places to make the change. One is for the HDMI settings and the other is for the optical. I'm not in front of my machine at the moment so I can't explain where you need to go but if you don't find it by tonight I will reply.
Another thing to check is that Boxee audio is set to digital not analog (PCM). Last thing to check is that the audio track on the media is 5.1 (3/2) and not 2 channel.
I've been testing the 3610 for a few months now and I've noticed something it does with audio.
Sometimes, after you wake it from sleep...the audio is completely off. Icon on the taskbar shows it as off too. If you had boxee maximized anyway, you will not notice this until you play something. Then you get the "check your audio settings." That's when you minimize boxee and see the sound is off on the Revo. A log off the user and log back in is all that is needed to get the audio back.
I've not found a cause or a sequence of events other than it happens only after waking from sleeping all night. Its maybe once a week and it just started a 3 weeks ago. Very odd....
I wonder if this is the other half of why you sometimes have no sound at all.

Ok, I'm stumped. I'm on a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit, and have HDMI stereo audio working. When I go into the control panel it only gives me stereo as a choice - I don't see any other options (though there is space below it in the box for other entries). Am I missing something?
Appreciate any tips on how to enable HDMI 5.1 audio on this Revo!![]()
Open control panels -> sound. Click on the Nvidia HDMI Out icon and set as default. On the bottom left of that screen click on configure. Choose Stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 based on your setup and then test.
Hope that solves your problem.
