Firstly, congrats on whoever designed the hardware box. Seeing that bought me here to have a look. After playing with lots of hardware over the years, it looks like I might finally have found a small quiet (hopefully) box that can handle 1080.. to be attached to all the screens in my house... without taking up much space!
The only problem I can see is streaming my security cameras..
By hook or crook I can do this to the various boxes around now.., grab stream into VLC and push out into different formats..
So, whilst I am on holiday with limited resources I thought I would have a quick look at streaming to Boxee.
I created an playlist.m3u in my videos with 2 mms sources...
mms://livewmstream-ws.bbc.co.uk.edgestreams.net/reflector:47971
mms://a1926.l1856941925.c18569.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1926/18569/v0001/reflector:41925
Windows media player 11 will play these fine using Open URL on the File menu.
Item 1 is audio only BBC. I think it should work worldwide.
Boxee shows its squares and then Now playing 'reflector:47971'
It will then play some audio and then stop.. a few seconds later it will start again, then continue fine.
Item 2 is NasaTV this does have a video feed, low framerate..
Audio comes in screen goes blank..
After less than 1 min the audio will get stuck and loop the last second over and over, as in
children..children..children..
until the app is closed from Taskmanager.
Below is a snip from the boxee.log

XP SP3 1 gig ram. Shows two processors in taskman, Geforce fx 5200..
175.19 drivers installed. From nvidia website scan the last drivers for that card which I downloaded this morning.
Flash 10.1 latest also downloaded today, along with directx web update.
Before doing that I had no playback of anything local or network, the black screen problem.
So the questions..
Is MMS supposed to be supported in the current beta?
Is it the old hardware I am using to test thats braking it?
More importantly..
Will MMS streams be supported in the Dlink/Boxee hardware?
Thats what I really want, 3-4 of these, one for every set, linked back to my media server, which also streams out the camers.
If not MMC, what about other streams VLC can output.. http rtsp udp...?
If the Dlink hardware will do it, its worth me learning further.
If not, I need to think again![]()

The mms:// part is more of a gimmick like sopcast:// or itunes://... nothing more.
