i apologize in advance for the long thread...but after days of trial and error this has got me pretty annoyed.
so, i've been thoroughly enjoying the new beta with 0 problems since it's launch.
i got a digidesign mbox2 mini for christmas. installed pro tools 8 and the mbox2 drivers...everything was great. even recorded a few tracks and everything was working fine.
then i went to open boxee, with my speakers now connected to the mbox2 rather than my laptop's normal soundcard (realtek HD). boxee started fine, everything was great. then i went to watch a TV show on netflix, and things got screwy.
netflix kept rebuffering, which it NEVER does, and audio kept stuttering and popping and just generally screwing up. i backed out of netflix and tried to watch something on hulu, same thing. FOX, same thing.
so, that means that flash, move player, and silverlight were all acting screwy. also, the entire boxee GUI framerate dropped, i.e. menus and scrolling were jerky rather than perfectly smooth, as they always have been.
SO, then I closed boxee and tried watching an episode on hulu.com the old fashioned way. same thing, everything was acting like it couldn't buffer enough...sound kept popping and stuttering and video was jerky.
okay, i thought, no problem. the mbox2 is usb 1.1 so it must not be fast enough to buffer flash audio. just means i'll have to reconnect everything every time i want to record. PITA but worth it.
i disconnect the mbox2 and plug my speakers back into the laptop soundcard. try playing flash again, and things are back to normal. open boxee back up, everything is great, including startup sound, menu sounds, scrolling and transitions, etc. try to play a video...same thing as before!
wtf. so now i'm thinking the mbox2 installation has screwed with my drivers. so i uninstall EVERYTHING that has been installed with mbox2 and pro tools 8. reboot. open boxee, same thing. i run autoruns.com and compare my current startups to startups before i installed PT when boxee was running great...there are no differences.
i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling boxee (incl. deleting the BOXEE folder from appdata), uninstalling and reinstalling my sound and video drivers, AND flash (which apparently made no difference, as while flash was uninstalled i ran boxee and found that boxee must use it's own plugin for flash).
i've run dxdiag to see if directsound was screwing up. i've reinstalled directx11. i've rebooted a billion times and tried everything i can imagine to see if i have damaged system files, etc. nothing.
so to recap...boxee loads great, runs great UNTIL i try to play any form of online video, at which point it slows down, drops frames and has terrible buffering problems, both with the online video and with the GUI.
HELP!
i'm using a G1S laptop, 8600m GT, realtek HD audio, 4GB ram, windows 7 home premium 64-bit.
