Default Apple remote will not control boxee

I've searched through loads of forums and web pages, but my apple remote will not control Boxee. I have followed the instructions Boxee provide and have been into 'settings'>'system' and ticked 'always running'. I have also unticked the box and it makes no difference. The remote will control Front Row if the 'always running' box is unticked.

Is there any advice available please.

the remote will actually do one thing... if i hold the menu button for a few seconds it will bring up the top menu for boxee but that's it. can't do anything after that.

Not sure if this will help but I installed windows 7 and to make everything work in boxee I had to run it as admin.

My remote a Harmony 550 using Imon software worked fine if Boxee was not running as admin but once set to admin I also had to run Imon software as admin. Hope that helps.
    system specs:

    Win 7 64
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (2.0 GHz)
    2 GB Ram
    ATI Radeon 9800 128MB ram

Lol, im pretty sure the others in this thread are OSX guys.

For mac users with apple remote problems, other users have had success installing Candelair, an alternative driver for the apple remote.

I'm running boxee on macbook and mac mini - both running osx 10.6.2

For each, I downloaded latest version of candelair ir drivers and enabled the legacy leopard mode from the system preferences pane fr candelair and both are working well

    hope this helps
