Running Mythbuntu 9.04 64bit (used the sticky thread in Linux help to work with 64 bit)
    ---------------------------------------------
    Memory: G.SKILL 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Remote: Microsoft A9O-00007 WinXP Media Center Infrared Remote Control
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD
    Proc: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600 Brisbane 2.9GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor
Video: on-board ATI Radeon HD 3200
    -----------------------------------------------

    - Initially had no sound and ffwd video. Solved this by using the forums and properly setting up my ~/.asoundrc
    - After getting sound, sound wouldn't work in flash. This was again solved by correctly modifying my ~/.asoundrc by following some instructions on the forum
    - Playing mp3s is still so-so, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Default Anyone try a zotac-ionitx dual-core system yet?

I'm considering setting up a mini-itx system with F11 and I was wondering if anyone in these forums could tell me if they've set up Linux and Boxee on a Zotac mini-itx board? If so, what were your results? Did the HDMI port work? Any issues with the system performing poorly while playing movies or streaming video?

My current systems have old, single core P4 (Northwood and Prescott) CPUs, and streaming flash videos on the Internet tend to stutter and crash Boxee. I'm hoping that the newer dual-core CPU on the zotac boards can handle flash streaming better. My main concern is that the CPUs on this board are only 1.6GHz though. Not sure if that's enough horsepower.

Here's the board I was thinking of getting:

    Thanks for any advice!

    Default Supported hardware

    Hello.
Linux is also exciting because it opens the door for boxee to run on a variety of hardware platforms and configurations, from users building their own media centres to hacking existing boxes to run Linux/boxee. I am using this.

My system is running the following hardware (at the moment, subject to upgrading):

Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H Mainboard w/ATI on-board video, HDMI, etc. Nice board, does everything and is very low-priced now if you can find one. It's also small, so it fits in the small HTPC cases. Mine is in an Antec Fusion.

AMD Athlon II X2-250 Dual Core CPU (I will probably be upgrading to a AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz, since this system will be pulling double duty as a game server.)

    4 GB RAM

I've just installed Linux Mint Gnome 9 and the default video player plays 1080 full screen perfectly. The only problem is, Boxee can't access the hard drive with my movies and it's on the same system. I can actually access other Windows computers on the network with Boxee, but not the drive I need. I've posted this under a help thread with no replies.

This response may be a bit late, but just in case you're still experiencing difficulties or others view this and have a similar problem, the solution is fairly simple.

    1. Make sure it's mounted -- If they're all on a partition or hard drive that's not linux's root partition, you will need to mount it if it's not. i.e. 'mount -t ntfs /dev/sda2 /mnt/windows' if you are dual-booting and need your windows partition mounted (assuming it's ntfs and sda2). Your distro may have automatically setup a mount point, check /mnt and /media as those are the usual locations.

    2. For convenience, symlink these directories to your home directory -- To extend the previous example, 'ln -s /mnt/windows ~/windows' will create a symbolic link (think shortcut) from it's mount point to 'windows' in your home folder.

    3. Add the source -- I'm assuming people know how to add a source, so this should be obvious, but select your user's directory and your newly created symlink will be there.
