Is the queue supposed to work for local content as well as Internet sourced shows? You've been able to subscribe to local shows for quite a while, but it's still not working for me in the latest build.

I'm assuming the development focus has been on Internet sourced shows.

No. You can add only specific episodes of shows to the Que on the home screen. Be carefull, as right now if you add a show to the que it cannot be removed.

You should just go to My TV SHows and each local show can be set up to show Newest First. Then add a "shortcut" to the show. YOu can do the same for TV Show Library (internet source shows) for shows in there. Click the left hand setting Add to MY SHOWS-queue new episodes, will add it to My TV Shows. Then add a shortcut which is a favorite (see pics).

I'm talking about the "Add to My Shows (Queue New Episodes)" option, which isn't specific to a particular episode, but show up for shows that I only have local content for (again, like most of the world I can't get Internet streamed shows for 99% of good content). So what's that option for? My understanding from various reading is that this is how you control whether episodes show up automatically in the queue or not.

Since Boxee is somewhat source-agnostic, I'm assuming "Queue New Episodes" shows up as an option for any TV show, regardless of whether the show episodes come from a local or Internet source. And once it's selected, it SHOULD cause new episodes to be queued, again whether the new detected episodes are from a local or an Internet source.

It makes zero sense to me that it INTENTIONALLY would work for one type and not another. I'm assuming either it's BROKEN for local episodes in the latest builds (and older ones), or I'm having a problem that most people aren't having for some reason.

Since I have installed the latest beta, I haven't readded my local content so nothing new has been added to my queue (heck I think when I originally said it worked, that may have just been a video I manually added testing things).

Anyway, I've just readded my local library. With shows starting back up, I'll be able to test the queue feature now.

Well, that's actually what I explained,,,mostly. I think you have a different idea of que new episodes than I do. Though I like your's better.

Here is what I think you are asking for.

A que that will auto populate ONLY freshly added local files for ANY show episode you add to your share. That que would be like the one on the main page. So you could see at a glance any new episodes for any show.

The que does not work that way. Though, that would be nice.

Currently, the "Add to My Shows (Queue New Episodes)" in My TV Shows is not really doing anything. Though, TV Library with "Add to My Shows (Queue New Episodes)" does add specific shows to MY TV and automatically feeds the new episodes to it. Sorta the same but for Internet shows....which I know you don't want.

I like going to My TV shows and opening my show and seeing them in order newest to last. But I like your idea to further filter it down too. Maybe make a suggestion on Getsaticfaction???

I've reported this as a bug here: http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-3705 You can vote that bug up as well.

Boxee needs to make up its mind if its going to aggregate local/non-local content and the features to manage them or not. If My TV Shows is for both local and non-local media then the functionality for the latter should also be available for the former. If not, then don't aggregate the content into one view.

If I record a show, and new episodes are available to Boxee, then I see NO reason why that episode can't be put in the queue just like new non-local episodes.

And in an interesting twist ;-) next week's episode of House ("The Down Low") just showed up in my queue -- made even more interesting given the fact it won't air until the 11th and won't be available for streaming until the 19th

It sounds in both of your posts like you're saying that the only way to manage episodes (local or Internet) is by adding/removing episodes from the queue manually... But maybe I'm misreading you.

Are you sure? Remember, I'm talking about the way it's SUPPOSED to work, not the way it currently works (presumably we're testing the beta to figure out what's not working as designed, or in which areas the current design is severely lacking).

From reading various postings about the Beta (like the original blog post describing the Queue and the live presentation), what's supposed to happen is:

    1) When you hit "Add to My TV Shows", then two things happen:
1a) The show is added to and listed in "My Shows"
1b) As new episodes of the show are detected, they show up in the Queue.
    2) You can manually add/remove shows to the queue.

Reading back over your posts a few times it sounds like you're saying that #1a and #2 are true, but #1b is not. I'm saying that #1b is clearly SUPPOSED to be true, and from reports it seems to be working for *Internet* content in the latest builds, but it's not working for LOCAL content.

So my question is whether or not 1b is *intended* to work for local content as well. Maybe you're saying it's not (and you're agreeing that it's supposed to for Internet content). But that makes no sense - why differentiate between the two? Are you positive it wouldn't be considered a bug? It sure *seems* like one. At the very least the interface is super-confusing and that needs to be fixed.

BTW, I agree 100% with BOXEE-3705 - either the lack of auto-queuing for local content is is a bug that needs to be fixed (and would be a feature request), or the interface needs to be fixed so that users aren't confused like we all seem to be.
